About La Pelleterie

La Pelleterie has been serving the living history community for over 40 years. Founded by Pat Tearney and later joined by his wife Karalee, La Pelleterie is a rare jewel in the historic clothing business. Pat prided himself in the accuracy of his knowledge of 18th and 19th century history, including Indian Lore and tailoring. Together with Karalee's knowledge of art and education, they made La Pelleterie what it is today - -the finest quality, historic clothing company in the country--"the Rolls Royce of the Trade". The name Tearney and the quality merchandise reputation behind it is unequalled by anyone.

Since Pat's passing, Karalee has been proprietress of La Pelleterie since 1984. She is the lady with whom you will work to create or enhance your historical characterization. Karalee stands behind everything that we make, offer and sell.

Professional Consultation

Do you need help in choosing historical clothing and accessories for your staff and /or exhibits? Let La Pelleterie help. We have assisted numerous museums, movie production companies, and theatrical performance groups in making history come "to life". We can work closely with your staff and budget.

We offer historical clothing for the 18th and 19th centuries. Our catalogue features what the individual person would have worn; but we can custom make almost any 18th or 19th century garment. Various "tricks of the trade" can be utilized for "exhibit only" garments to help keep your costs down. Interpreters, actors, actresses, western riders, and rock singers find our garments easy and comfortable to work with because these are not costumes, they are real clothes.

Need help with exhibit planning or installing an exhibit, let us help. We offer consultation and installation services. We can help you find those little accessories and we can add those little touches of illusion to give "actually worn look" to your reproduction garments.

We have numerous sources for documented research and reproduction items as well as a network of professionals to insure your history is accurate and effective.
We believe that history should be portrayed with accuracy and a "touch of reality". Work with La Pelleterie Staff and you can also add class to this vision!
